Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty-Land Warrant Application Files, 1800-1900 Record for Benjamin Wages and Mary Wages (widow) No. R.10993

Benjamin Wages enlisted on the first day of the Revolutionary War as soldier in Col. William Washington Regiment of Calvary of horses, served in the Continental Army, Virginia line in 1778 and 1779.  He fought in the battle of Cambridge.  He also fought in the battle of Utau Springs and was wounded in three places by a sword in his left arm and two other wounds to his right thigh and the other in his left knee by a bayonet and conscripted and confined in a hospital.  After being discharged from the army, he was returned to home and was celebrated for being a brave man in the army. Benjamin stated that when the enemy had his bayonet in his thigh he shot his brains out with his pistol. 


In addition, he got married during or around the time of his military service to Mary, in 1779-1780.
